Norman Reginald Palmer

Norman Palmer was born in Wingate, Co. Durham in 1901 and studied at Sunderland Technical College. He started as a mine surveyor with Lambton & Hetton Collieries, becoming Group Surveyor with the company in 1934 and then Chief Surveyor for the Ryhope Coal Company from 1936 to 1946. After nationalisation he was an Area Chief Surveyor in Durham abd then Assistant Divisional and Minerals Manager.

He was a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, being chair of the local branch in 1960-61 and an examiner in mine surveying.

He was NEIMME President in 1963-64.

Norman Palmer died in 1976.
