Robert Simpson Anderson

Robert Simpson Anderson was born in London in 1861.

He was Manager at Elswick Colliery and agent at Hebburn Collieries.

He became a student member of the North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers in 1883 and was President for  1929-30. He was the Chairman of the Support of Workings in Mines Committee and was elected representative of the Institute on the Council of The Institution of Mining Engineers in 1908, and thereon until 1942. Anderson acted as an examiner in the Institute Examinations for Certified Studentship, which were inaugurated in 1937.

His son Robert Wylie Anderson was NEIMME President in 1944-46.

Robert Simpson Anderson died in 1945.
