Robert Williams was born in Middle Herrington, County Durham. He joined the Institution of Mining Engineers in 1958 and was President of the North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers for 1955-56 and 1970-71.
Robert Williams died on the 15th of December 1971, aged 62.
