Big Pit National Coal Museum [Wales]
Big Pit is a real coal mine and one of Britain’s leading mining museums. With facilities to educate and entertain all ages, Big Pit is an exciting and informative day out. Enjoy a multi-media tour of a modern coal mine with a virtual miner in the Mining Galleries, exhibitions in the Pithead Baths and Historic colliery buildings.

The Museum aims to preserve and promote the rich ironstone heritage of East Cleveland, North Yorkshire, creating an enjoyable and educational experience for everyone.

Honister Slate Mine
Set in the Heart of Lakeland, Honister Slate Mine has, for centuries, produced the beautiful green stone which it is famous throughout the world.   The site is open to the public and there are tours underground. 2,000 feet up a mountain the English Lake District, the mine probably has the best views of any in the world.

National Coal Mining Museum for England
The National Coal Mining Museum runs Caphouse Colliery in Yorkshire, where the public can see exhibits underground and on the surface. Well worth a visit.

National Mining Museum Scotland
The museum provides a great day out for all ages! It is based at one of the finest surviving examples of a Victorian colliery in Europe, the Lady Victoria Colliery at Newtongrange, just nine miles south of Edinburgh. Visitors to the museum will marvel at the sheer size of the place, be astounded by the engineering brilliance behind all the machinery and retrace the footsteps and struggles of the thousands of miners and their families before them.

Sygun Copper Mine
Family attraction situated in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park and is open most of the year.
