Join the Mining Institute this summer to celebrate our regional industrial heritage through 10 themes of innovation…
SEAM Exhibition tells the story of the unique engineering heritage of the Mining Institute, and highlights the pioneering figures behind some of the greatest innovations of the Industrial Revolution who worked right here in the North East! The exhibition will enable visitors to explore their regional industrial heritage through 10 themes of innovation, from lighting and transport to workers’ rights, dating back to before the Institute’s foundation and progressing through to current and future innovation in the region.
The exhibition will provide the public with the rare opportunity of exploring the beautiful Arbitration Room of the Mining Institute. Due to planned renovation work following the Great Exhibition of the North, this will be the last chance to see this historic building before its grand reopening in 2020!
