Tom Lamb – Retrospective

Thursday 11th January – Wednesday 31st January 2018

Tom Lamb started work as a miner at the age of fourteen in 1942 at Craghead Colliery in Co. Durham. He worked for 27 years and often sketched his fellow miners underground. Tom was a contemporary and friend of other mining artists, notably Norman Cornish, Tom McGuinness and Bill Hindmarsh.

Tom died in February 2016 and this retrospective exhibition represents his life’s work. Tom was also a superb landscape artist and many of his works will be for sale. The paintings represent a way of life and work long since passed. The book “Tom Lamb. The Biography of a Mining Artist” will also be on sale at £10 with proceeds to the Mining Institute.
