Annual Dinner and Symposium

The Institute’s Annual Dinner is a celebration of both the work of the Institute over the past year, and an opportunity to meet up with old friends and colleagues from the Newcastle & Durham University Mining Department alumni. This year our dinner will be held within the Institute’s grand premises of Neville Hall. This year we are delighted to be sponsored by BAM Ritches.

Our 171th Anniversary Dinner will include:

  • NEIMME Symposium during the afternoon of the 26th (3pm onwards)
    • Rod Young – Barhale Ltd – Microtunnelling an Undertrack Crossing
    • Angus MacGregor – BAM Ritchies – Hard Rock Tunnelling for a Hydropower Revolution
    • Jane Isaacs/Kevin Sabin– ABMEC – (TBA)
    • Dr Richard Curry – SUSTAIN STEEL – Future Directions for UK Steelmaking
  • Optional opportunity to attend Evening Prayer at St Nicholas Cathedral for the Engineering Community in the Region
  • Three course dinner in the Wood Hall at Neville Hall
  • Special Guest speaker from the mining industry

Please note that due to high demand for tables, spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

This year’s dinner will be held at Neville Hall in Newcastle on the 26th of April 2024.

We have a range of sponsorship benefits on offer for those companies who wish to support our event. For further details on these please contact the President (Dr Andrew Dobrzanski) at:
