The North of England Institute of Mining Engineers and the establishment of the College of Physical Science at Newcastle upon Tyne, by Prof. F.B.Hinsley of Nottingham University, was a lecture given in 1971 to mark the centenary of the founding of the College – a forerunner of Newcastle University. It deals with the origins of the Institute and its role in promoting the creation of the College.
