Volunteer

We have a strong community of volunteers at the Mining Institute contributing over 12,000 hours each year.

Volunteers help with a variety of tasks including book conservation Phase-box Making, repair and cleaning.  Digitising archives either by Scanning or Transcribing them is also a popular task.  Volunteers are also enabling us to create more detailed book catalogue records by adding information from the tables of contents to the main record.  Other volunteers help with promoting library resources, answering enquiries and creating exhibitions and displays.  Some volunteer work can even be done at home via the internet.  There is no regular minimum time commitment and tasks are matched to volunteers’ skills and interests.
